TPT Alumnus receives appreciations for his innovative SwachBIN!

Mr. Bharathi Athinarayanan , a 2001 alumnus of Thiagarajar Polytechnic College , who is currently an AI/ML Architect is now a product owner of his innovation SwachBIN, a smart AI powered trash bin that solves the waste / trash segregation menace at the source in a seamless way. This smart trash bin identifies and detects the trash and performs classification based on an AI algorithm. The is an all in one bin, which can collect and segregate automatically five types of trash such Recyclable (wet and dry) or Non recyclable trash (Hazardous, Sanitary, Construction, and Debris). At the same time, it accomplishes the task at ultra-low cost and by enabling sustainability.

Mr. Bharathi and his team developed this product as part of IBM Call for Code global challenge and won USD 10000, with the pride of being the only Indian team to be the winner. His team was invited by IBM to UN HQ in Newyork to showcase the innovation.

At this juncture, I am happy to state that Bharathi always shares his expertise with our students and faculty and look forward having him in our campus to mentor our students in the areas of AI/ML and other emerging areas.

On behalf of our Chairman Sri. C.Valliappa, Vice Chairmen, Mr.Chocko Valliappa and Mr.Thyagu Valliappa , myself and the entire TPT family, I appreciate the efforts of our former student Mr.Bharathi for his great achievement and wish him all success in his future endeavours.
