What is the procedure for admission?
Candidates have to apply in the prescribed application form which can be obtained from the college during April of every year. Also, applications can be downloaded from the college website
What is the eligibility for admission in first year diploma Programmes?
A Pass in S.S.L.C/Matric/CBSE with 35% marks (min) and other conditions as per DOTE/AICTE
What is the eligibility condition for lateral entry/Direct second year Diploma admission?

Passed 12th Std. examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the Mathematics/ Biology (Botany and Zoology) (OR) 12th Science (with Mathematics as one of the Subject) or 12th Science with Vocational (OR) 12th Science with Technical (OR) 10th + (2 years ITI) with appropriate Trade in that order shall be eligible for admission to Second Year Diploma Course(s) of appropriate Programme.

What is the duration of Diploma Programmes?
First year admission: 3 years ( As per DOTE/AICTE Guidelines ) Lateral Entry: 2 years ( As per DOTE/AICTE Guidelines 
When will the applications be issued?
The applications will be issued at the earliest in the month of April of every year.
What are the documents required for admission?

Does the Polytechnic admit other state students?
Yes (Only in Self Supporting Programs)
I am a sportsman and would like to get admission to a polytechnic course. How can I apply?
You can apply directly to the Directorate of Technical Education. Sportsman quota will be allotted by the DOTE only.
I am the son/daughter of Ex-servicemen and would like to get admission to a polytechnic course. How can I apply?
You can apply directly to the Directorate of Technical Education. Ex-Servicemen quota will be allotted by the DOTE only.
Does Thiagarajar Polytechnic College offer hostel facilities?
Yes, Separate hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls.
Does Polytechnic provide placement assistance?
Yes, A separate Training & Placement cell functions to assist in getting excellent placements. Renowned companies will be invited to conduct on-campus recruitment. We have already signed MoUs with several Organizations.
What is the working hour of the Institution?
Forenoon Session: 8.30 am to 12.30 pm; Afternoon Session: 1.30 pm to 5.00 pm.
Does the Institution provide additional Training programmes?
Yes, Training and Placement Cell organizes Personality Development workshops, Technical Certificate Courses, Soft skill development programmes, special trainings and certificate courses. Also, the Continuing Education Centre of our Institution offers Short term Computer Courses, Skill Oriented Courses and Career Guidance Programmes.
Does the Polytechnic incorporate industrial training as the compulsory component of the curriculum?
Industrial orientation/training is a compulsory component of the polytechnic curriculum. This is usually scheduled during the vacation.

What are the best practices followed in your Institution to improve the teaching Learning Process?
Weekly Tests, Subject on Professional Practice and Mini Project, Audit Courses, Student Centred Learning, Training through Moodle Software and Blackboard Tool and Interactive Board Teaching.
State Whether the Diploma Architectural students are eligible for admission to B.Arch Course?
Yes, Diploma Architectural students are eligible for admission to first B.Arch Courses after passing the NATA Examination.
I am a north eastern state student and would like to get admission to your polytechnic. How can I apply?
Students of North Eastern States can apply directly to the Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai through their respective states under Government of India (GOI) Quota. Also you can apply directly to the Instituion for admission into Self Supporting Programmes.
How are the students assessed at the Polytechnic?
Continuous assessments, Weekly Tests, Assignments, Model Examinations, Re-coaching examinations and semester examinations are being conducted to assess the academic performance of the students.
How many examinations are there in an academic year?
There are two examinations per year, for one in October/November and the other in March/April.
Is the Polytechnic a Wi-Fi enabled Campus?
