Thiagarajar Polytechnic College - the
place where the mind is led forward into ever widening thought
and action.
Yes! Fifty years of meaningful existence of this polytechnic has
proved the above fact and it is being corroborated by its alumni
who are occupying senior and responsible positions in renowned
companies and organizations or running successful business
ventures.
The foresight of Karumuthu Thiagarajar
Chettiar saw the foundation of the institute in 1958. It started
with three diploma programmes. With the wishes of great
luminaries and educationist of that time, the polytechnic has
steadily grown over the years: obtaining autonomous status in
1987; getting the CIICP project in 1991 and successfully running
it in the ensuing years; operating AICTE projects like
Entrepreneurship cell and Industry Institute Partnership Cell;
and NBA accreditation for all the Government aided programmes,
five of them being accredited for five years which is unique
feat. It is now offering nine diploma programmes and Post
diploma in computer applications.
The polytechnic ranks high among elite
institutions in the country and such an achievement is dedicated
to the vision of its former Chairman Mr.M.S.Chockalingam. The
Polytechnic continues to march in its path of growth and its
journey is ever continuing because the present chairman
Mr.C.Valliappa never settles down for anything that is mediocre.
He sets the benchmarks that are of international level. He has
been never hesitating to add to the facilities of the
polytechnic to the effect that, if I have to humbly mention
here, many distinguished guests who visit the college acclaim it
to be a world-class institute.
However, when we reach a horizon, a newer
horizon unfolds to us. And we envision many more miles in our
journey of serving the cause of technical education. We are
doubly sure that, with the guidance of our beloved Secretary
Prof.A.Dhirajlal, who is a transformational leader, we will be
achieving the vision of attaining the international
accreditation well within 2015.
