About the Institute

The polytechnic was established in 1958 by the Philanthropist Thiru.Karumuthu Thiagarajar Chettiar. The polytechnic is located on the state highway in the heart of Salem city, just one kilometer from railway junction and two kilometers from central bus stand. It is strategically located and well connected by road and rail to other cities, situated in a serene campus covered with green and tall trees and lush lawns, with hills forming silhouette. The college is equipped with laboratories, spacious classrooms and language laboratory. A team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members contribute their very best giving individual attention and careful grooming to the students by providing them with ample opportunities to become winning personalities.

The pioneer institution has now blossomed into a premier technical education institution in fifty years and it is in fitness of things that his Excellency, Dr. A.P.J.AbdulKalam, the former president of India, inaugurated the Golden Jubilee celebrations on the 12th August, 2009. His inspiring presence and electrifying speech motivated us to achieve still greater level of perfection.

It is unanimously decided in the Alumni Association General Body Meeting 2012, that Alumni General Body Meeting will be conducted on Third Saturday of February every year.
